On the 12th April, Connacht GAA/Connacht PHWC and Games for All Committee in collaboration with Mayo Sports Partnership, Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership, GAA Community and Health Department organised an All Star Inclusion Day for clubs in the province.
Children, coaches and parents from each of the counties in Connacht attended on the day. All Star Programmes in GAA clubs were set up for children with special needs to support them in being part of their local GAA Club. The main objective of the programme is to promote an ethos of inclusion and participation in GAA clubs. Coaches support the children to take part in a team game, assisting them with ball skills, exercise, and of course, fun and enjoyment in a safe environment. Another important goal for us was to promote the ethos of inclusion in the community and the club.
While the winds raged outside, the University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome provided a safe, secure and dry environment for all to enjoy the day. Coaches from Connacht GAA, Mayo GAA, Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership and Mayo Sports Partnership delivered the fun station-based activities on the day.
The Connacht All Star Inclusion Day built upon the impressive National All Star Inclusion Day delivered in Croke Park in August 2022.
