The Connacht GAA Senior Football Championship Finals takes place on Sunday 7th May at 1.45pm in Hasting’s Insurance MacHale Park with the meeting of Sligo and Galway. This is the 8th meeting of both these counties in the final, with Sligo tasting success in their last Connacht Final meeting in 2007, on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-12. However Galway have emerged victorious in the other seven encounters. The Tribesmen will be looking at putting back to back Nestor Cups together and build on the great strides made last year. Sligo County is on a wave of success with back to back U20 Connacht titles, success at the Connacht PPS Senior A Competition to go with their Allianz League success in Croke park.
The Final is preceded by the Connacht LGFA Senior championship final of age old rivals Mayo and Galway, throw in at 11.30am.
The Galway 1998 team that captured both the Connacht Championship and All-Ireland Final will be honoured on the day.
